Surge in Attendance for AmericaFest Amid Leadership Transition at Turning Point USA

Turning Point USA's annual AmericaFest is experiencing a significant uptick in attendance this year, with approximately 30,000 participants flocking to the Phoenix Conference Center. This represents a remarkable 50% increase from the numbers recorded last year, showcasing a revived enthusiasm for the organization co-founded by the late Charlie Kirk.

With a noted shift in demographics, the event is attracting a diverse crowd, particularly a greater number of women. Among them is Ellie Brown, an 18-year-old from Texas, who serves as the vice president of her high school’s Turning Point chapter. Reflecting on the organization’s evolution post-Kirk’s assassination, she stated, “I mean I would say honestly it’s better after his death. I think that so many more people were drawn in…his death brought in so many more people, and I feel like that was his ultimate goal.”

Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow, now leads the organization and is instrumental in fostering this demographic shift, particularly among young women. Visuals from AmericaFest highlight her active participation and engagement with attendees, documenting a spirited atmosphere during the event, which has garnered media attention, including photographs from Nick Sanchez of KJZZ.

Despite its historical alignment with young men, this year's AmericaFest marks a departure from that trend. Stefanie Barela, who traveled from California to attend, commented on the influence of Kirk's passing on conservative circles, suggesting that the tragedy has drawn increased attention to his legacy. “I think a lot of people did not know about Charlie Kirk until he was assassinated, so it’s just — it’s growing like wildfire now which is fantastic. So, God’s plan is always greater,” she noted.

Under Erika Kirk’s leadership, Turning Point USA seeks to enhance its outreach and impact, with plans focusing on political goals such as ensuring Republican dominance in Congress and backing JD Vance for the presidential race in 2028. Additionally, efforts are underway to honor Charlie Kirk's memory, including initiatives to name a stretch of highway after him.
