Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton

Last weekend, while much of the country celebrated America's 250th birthday, a video surfaced of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton boarding a flight from Washington's Dulles International Airport to Iceland alongside Tracy Duhon, a Christian author and influencer who has been linked to him romantically as his divorce from state Sen. Angela Paxton moves forward.

The footage shows the two boarding a June 27 flight to Reykjavík, with Paxton at one point rubbing Duhon's shoulder. Reykjavík was only the first stop. Over the Fourth of July weekend itself, Paxton and Duhon were photographed walking together near the London Eye — meaning the Republican Senate nominee spent the nation's semiquincentennial not in Texas, but in the country the United States declared independence from 250 years ago.

Paxton remains legally married to Angela Paxton. The two have been separated for roughly two years, and she filed for divorce in July 2025, citing "biblical grounds" and writing on X that "in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken" to remain married. A divorce trial had been scheduled for late June but was pulled from the docket after the couple's attorneys reported the parties had "made substantial progress toward an amicable resolution of all issues and remain engaged in productive discussions," sparing both sides a public airing weeks before the fall campaign. Paxton's campaign has not confirmed the nature of his relationship with Duhon, although she has been described in multiple reports as Paxton's companion of about two years.

Paxton's general-election opponent, Democratic state Rep. James Talarico, released a statement needling the attorney general over the symbolism of the destination. "Americans celebrated 250 years of independence from Britain this weekend," the Talarico campaign said. "Ken Paxton spent it with the British."
